2012 BMW G650GS Sertao Specs and Review

2012 BMW G650GS Sertao
2012 BMW G650GS Sertao - BMW had many new motorcycles to present at the 2010 EICMA show, including the Concept C scooter, the six-cylinder K 1600 GT and GTL and the new BMW G650GS Sertao.
With its new 2012 BMW G650GS Sertao, BMW Motorrad has added a new, sporting chapter to the history of single cylinders in the BMW GS family. Whereas the G 650 GS thrilled riders with its lean, wiry offroad stature, the 2012 BMW G650GS Sertao promises even more sporting characteristics, even greater offroad capabilities, and an even stronger desire for adventure.
Compared to the G650GS, the 2012 BMW G650GS Sertao has extensively modified rolling gear, while the engine and frame structure are 100-percent identical to the base model. The engine is a very solid and reliable liquid-cooled, dohc, four-valve Single with 100.0 x 83.0mm bore-and-stroke dimensions and features twin-spark ignition, EFI with a 43mm throttle body and an 11.5:1 compression ratio. The resultant output is 48.0 horsepower at 6500 rpm and 44.2 foot-pounds of peak torque at 5000 rpm.

Presenting a seat height of 860 mm instead of 800 mm, a considerably larger ground clearance, and a sturdy engine guard of aluminium, the 2012 BMW G650GS Sertao presents the optimal conditions for offroad riding. In addition, the high windscreen, hand protectors, and the extended front wheel cover provide a greater level of comfort on longer tours.
Braking is handled by a 300mm stainless-steel floating rotor and Brembo two-piston caliper up front and a 240mm disc pinched by a single-piston caliper out back.
The high contrast colour scheme in Aura white / Arroyo blue combined with the seat in black/grey and the vivid Sertão lettering lend the 2012 BMW G650GS Sertao its particular sturdy enduro character.
Even with the standard equipment, the 2012 BMW G650GS Sertao is virtually the perfect embodiment of a dynamic offroad enduro. Moreover, BMW Motorrad can provide an unusually extensive range of special equipment and accessories for even greater individualisation of the new BMW G 650 GS Sertão.
Special equipment is delivered directly ex works and is integrated in the production process. Special accessories are installed at BMW Motorrad dealerships. The motorcycle can therefore be fitted with options after it has left the factory.

Ducati Streetfighter Specs

Most parents recite this and Italian folks are no different, so it’s no surprise that the heart of the Streetfighter is Ducati’s tried-and-true liquid-cooled 1099cc L-Twin engine as used in the 2008 Ducati 1098 Superbike. The Streetfighter, however, benefits from a new vacuum die-cast manufacturing process (first introduced on the 2008 Ducati 848) allowing for a lighter crankcase without compromising its strength.
The cylinders use the same 104 x 64.7mm bore/stroke dimensions as the 1098. The cylinder head is also the same, making use of four 42mm intake valves and an equal number of 34mm exhaust valves controlled via Ducati’s unique Desmodromic valve actuation system.
Fueling the engine is a pair of Marelli fuel injectors that pump fuel into elongated oval-shaped throttle bodies. The injectors receive fresh air via a modified air tract that is required due to the Streetfighter’s unique front facia design. The results is a claimed five horsepower decrease in power output.

2010 Honda Gold Wing Specs News and Review

The 2010 Honda Gold Wing comes more like a disappointment rather than the interesting new entry that the public had been expecting simply because the world’s ultimate touring motorcycle features no new technical innovation or design change that is characteristic to the class it proudly dominates and to it only. While remaining as reliable, comfortable and powerful as the previous generation model, the 2010 model year is a bit safer and the new color schemes still manage to make the bike stand out despite its old-fashioned look.

With a very comfortable chair positioned just 29.1 inches off the ground and an infinite number of goodies such as a CD player, navigation system integrated and multi-function display, just to name a few, 2010 Honda Gold Wing is a synonym for open road cruising in complete luxury and relaxation. Wet bike weighs 895-928 pounds depending on options selected.

2012 Kawasaki Ninja ZX 10R Specs and Review

2012 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R
When passion and technology merge, great literbikes are born — including the 2012 Ninja® ZX™-10R. Overhauled just last year, the 2012 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R bristles with the newest technology, including Sport-Kawasaki Traction Control, elevating it above all others in its class. Kawasaki engineers created an engine that produces an astounding amount of horsepower, yet maintains the realibility Kawasaki is known for. All of this technology only enhances the already incredible speed and intense feeling a rider gets while aboard a ZX-10R.

Kawasaki have released pics and specs of the 2012 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R and the new bike looks pretty hot. The 2012-spec bike gets traction control and ABS (optional), and both of these are supposed to be ‘intelligent’ systems that ‘allow optimum wheelspin while enhancing rider control.
Sophisticated and customizable Kawasaki Sports traction using the riders harness and exploit ZX-10R mix of power and incredible handling. The system is called the traction control Kawasaki Sport, or S-KTRC. Only the 2012 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, high performance, which raises the ZX on the open class sport bikes. About the ZX-10R’s ‘Sport-Kawasaki Traction Control’ (S-KTRC) system, Kawasaki claim it’s a ‘highly sophisticated electronic system based on actual Kawasaki MotoGP experience that’s designed to maximize forward motion by allowing racers to ride closer to the edge of traction. The system crunches a wide range of data, including throttle position, wheel speed, engine rpm, wheel slippage and acceleration, with help from a speed sensor fitted to each wheel. The quickest acceleration requires a certain amount of wheel slippage, so to optimize traction, S-KTRC actually allows for optimum wheelspin.’
The S-KTRC system offers three different modes of operation, which riders can select according to surface conditions, rider preference and skill level: Level 1 for max-grip track use, Level 2 for intermediate use, and Level 3 for slippery conditions. An LCD graph on the instrument cluster displays how much electronic intervention is occurring in real time and a thumb switch on the left handlebar pod allows simple, on-the-go mode changes.
The Engine has not undergone significant changes and still generate power of 200.1 PS at 13,000 rpm with a torque peak at 114,3 Nm at 11,500 rpm. Chassis geometry offers excellent stability and handling quickness. The front end geometry – with rake at 25 degrees and trail at 107mm (4.21 in.) – allows light, quick handling and complements the engine’s controllable power and the frame and swingarm’s flex characteristics.
Highly advanced suspension at both ends helps as well. Up front is a 43mm open-class version of the Big Piston Fork (BPF). Featuring a piston design nearly twice the size of a conventional cartridge fork, the BPF offers smooth action, less stiction, light weight and enhanced damping performance on the compression and rebound circuits. This compliance results in more control and feedback for the rider – just what you need when carving through a rippled sweeper at your local track or negotiating a decreasing-radius corner on your favorite backroad.
Suspension duties on the ZX-10R are handled by a Horizontal Back-Link design that positions the shock and linkage above the swingarm. Benefits include mass centralization, good road holding, compliance and stability, smooth action in the mid-stroke and good overall feedback. The fully adjustable shock features a piggyback reservoir and dual-range (low- and high-speed) compression damping.
Most of the above sounds interesting and we’re sure the 2012 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is one smoking-hot superbike.

2012 Victory Hard Ball Specs and Review

2012 Victory Hard-Ball
Victory Motorcycles made a Hard-Balling bagger out of its High-Ball. Victory again thumbs its nose at conventionalism and throws a hard-riding bagger with apes out there. Not everybody wants to hide behind a front fairing but can appreciate having the convenience of some bags when it’s road-trippin’ time. The 2012 Victory Hard-Ball is the happy median.
At the heart of 2012 Victory Hard-Ball sits the Freedom V-Twin power plant, expertly balanced for perfectly controlled explosions that deliver 97 horsepower and 109 ft. lbs. of hole shot torque. Maestro of the motorcycle world, its what keeps man, machine and highway working together in perfect harmony. The highest performing transmission on the road receives the power generated by the massive V-Twin and seamlessly turns it into something you can use. Neutral Selection Assist and helical-cut gears ensure every shift is as quiet and smooth as the one before.
Old-school lace design with a red tire stripe. A style that sets the stage and informs the world what riding is still all about. Throw a leg over a 2012 Victory Hard-Ball. Wherever you want to go from here, these wheels will take you. At first glance the tank looked the same before we realized it’s the more angular-style tank of the Cross Country which comes with the added range of a 1.4-gallon larger capacity.
First and foremost is the addition of a set of hard locking saddlebags. Capacity wasn’t listed, but they look large enough to stash a few days provisions in easily. This is good since they’ve added a small pillion and passenger foot pegs, so if you’re going to be traveling two-up, the bags become a necessity.

2011 Kawasaki Ninja 250R Specs News and Review

For those beginning their two-wheeled journey, the Ninja® 250R sportbike has always been a great option to start. Its low seat height and peppy engine translate into hours of fun for both novices and veterans. Though its engine may be compact, its eight-valve cylinder head means a rider can wring every bit of enjoyment from each twist of the throttle, from idle to redline. And with sharp styling that matches its supersport siblings, the Ninja 250R looks fast even while standing still. Best of all, the 250R is a great value, with an affordable purchase price and excellent fuel economy.

The fun begins with its 249cc liquid-cooled engine that thrives on high-rpm excitement. The parallel-twin is tuned for peppy power delivery that’s both smooth and predictable, making for a beginner friendly motorcycle. A silky-smooth six-speed transmission lets riders exploit the 250R’s powerband from that low-end grunt to the crowd pleasing and lively top-end rush. Just like the supersports, it uses petal disc brakes. And the lightweight Ninja provides plenty of entertainment from the initial learning curve to beyond.
Wrapping the 250R are the fairing and windscreen that not only look great, but deliver wind protection for a wide range of riding situations. An easy-to-read instrument panel with fuel gauge and neutral indicator is another convenient feature for the new rider.
A natural riding position and comfortable ergonomics combine with lightweight handling, easy controllability and great throttle response for pure pleasure on city streets. Part of this great handling and stability comes from the 17-inch wheels. Bringing the show to a stop are the large petal-shaped 290mm front rotors and a single 220mm rear rotor gripped by powerful two-piston hydraulic calipers. Like Kawasaki’s other Ninja models, the 250R is equipped with quality components and tuned for class-leading performance.

KTM 990 Supermoto T Specs News and Review

2011 KTM 990 Supermoto T
Better than ever in 2011 thanks to leading ABS technology: the long-distance KTM 990 Supermoto T.
From its launch in the spring of 2009, the KTM 990 Supermoto T triggered a flood of enthusiastic comments. Reaching another sport motorcycle milestone for KTM, its new and unique concept was the first to combine the dynamism of an agile Supermoto with the benefits of a true long distance touring motorcycle.
The incredibly versatile two-cylinder Supermoto enters the biking season of 2011 with a decisive innovation. An ABS braking system tailored specifically for the requirements of the KTM Supermoto  makes for perfect deceleration under any conditions, rendering the 990 the Queen of negative acceleration without sacrificing any of its vigor.
Exciting & Sophisticated
The state-of-the-art, liquid-cooled V-Twin with KTM’s typical, favorable cylinder angle of 75° remains at the core of the long-distance Supermoto. Weighing in at an unrivalled 58kg, the 999cc, 115 bhp engine stands for crushing power, high refinement and impressive control. In a nutshell: exhilarating performance in a sophisticated package. And just what the special concept of the 2011 KTM 990 Supermoto T requires.
Looking at the chassis, the latest issue of the 2011 KTM 990 Supermoto T also delivers exactly what KTM riders expect: stability all the way up to top speed; a top quality suspension that soaks up every bump while delivering a crisp feedback; ultra-precise steering; and above all, as befits a true Supermoto, superior flickability. This effortlessness is achieved by purposely eliminating any and all unnecessary components, finding smart design solutions, and using only first rate materials.
At a curb weight of 197 kilos including the ABS, the 2011 model remains below the magical 200 kilo margin, an impressive demonstration of the KTM developers’ prowess and ambition.

High End Deceleration Support
Some of the credit for the low weight is due to the anti-lock braking system, available for the first time on the 2011 KTM 990 Supermoto T, that weighs in at only one kilogram. In close collaboration with specialist supplier Bosch, the latest-generation dual channel system has been specifically adapted to the requirements of a very sporty Supermoto.
It is matched to a high-performance Brembo braking system with radial four pot calipers on 305mm discs, tailored to deliver outstanding control and awesome stopping power. The result is a sensitive ABS braking system that lets the 2011 KTM 990 Supermoto T stop safely and with pinpoint accuracy on any surface and from any speed. Equipped with rollover detection, the functions of the KTM-Bosch system have been purposely designed not to interfere with an aggressive riding style. BMW K1300R Specs News and Review

2011 BMW K1300R
2011 BMW K1300R... Absolute destruction. Aggressive. Adrenaline pure. Even when standing still. And even more so as soon as it gets going. What happens at this moment is among the special moments in the life of a biker: a rocket-like start. Thanks to its geometry, this projectile zooms into orbit like no other. Perfect for the quarter mile. But also for everyday use. And bends. Not only does it supremely tap into 173 bhp and 140 Nm and produce a sound from its new hexagonal tube with catalytic converter and exhaust valve that gives you goose pimples. But also because all this goes hand in hand with fuel consumption and exhaust emission levels which even a “sensible” bike would be proud. After all, BMW stands for Bayerische Motoren Werke.
The very finest technology, ergonomics from the people who invented it and a style which is simply unforgettable. And you can hardly believe that despite all this emotional appeal, it is one of the safest motorcycles with the best levels of everyday suitability: ABS and ESA II as optional extras, for example. And even the accessories bowl you over: racers order the automatic shift function which allows them to burn through the gears, as well as the MotoGP-style 2D dashboard – just so the lap times are official. And if you want to load it up there are even luggage solutions, too. But even they cannot change the fact that this is the coolest power in town. Contact your dealer if you have any questions or concerns about test driving this bike!

2011 Yamaha FJR1300 Specs and Review

When it comes to my sport-touring preferences, I like an accent on sport. I used to rack up hundreds of miles in a day on my Yamaha Seca 550, sans its distinctive bikini fairing, so I do not need to be pampered to go the distance.
The Yamaha FJR1300 is a traditional design with a bow sport that puts performance ahead of the bells and whistles, and when the exchange between 14 and Kawasaki Concours 2009 BMW K 1300 GT, it is indisputably the king of twisties.
I enjoyed the FJR1300 ergonomics every time I slipped into the cockpit. It feels compact and ready to dice-definitely more sport than touring.
The Yamaha gauges are easy to read, though I would rather have a large digital velocity readout than its distracting 270-degree, 170 mph analog needle sweep.
The Yamaha FJR has a natural turn-ins that made him carve through turns with remarkable agility for a motorcycle that weighs 641 pounds is claimed, is filled with liquid (it has the largest fuel tank capacity of the three). Once done, the FJR1300 willing to hold the line, but allows adjustments required as a condition (including rider error) requires. For comparison, in 2009 Concours 14 feels a bit slow, because a few more pounds and plusher suspension, while the BMW K 1300 GT has the feel strange that no-dive front suspension Duolever single-shock (which is undoubtedly good for two-up ride).
