Honolulu Police Use BMW R1200 RT P
BMW Motorrad, the motorcycle division of BMW AG, announced its cooperation with the Honolulu Police Department (HPD) to supply the BMW R 1200 RT-Police strengthen traffic patrol units. No fewer than 34 large motor units will be delivered until June 2011 to rejuvenate the mounts.
Honolulu Police Department has 12 years of relying on BMW as a patrol vehicle. In addition to escort the guest country, HPD will introduce the new mounts on the program "Say Hi" as a model of interaction between police and school students.
"Every unit of BMW motorcycles were created with standard and special missions so as to create a vehicle with special features. This bike has the best long term value,"said Frank Stevens, Authority Program Manager of BMW Motorrad USA, as reported by autoevolution, Sunday (22 / 5 / 2011).
Unlike the standard model, BMW made the police have been equipped with additional lights, sirens, electric power is increased, cooling system, radio connection, as well as several other police additional tools. "Each unit of this motorcycle make the police department could save money and time if you want to add other equipment as products that received a complete package," added Stevens.
BMW R 1200 RT-P equipped with two-cylinder overhead cam engine that is able to deliver power Boxer 110 HP at 7750 rpm and 120 NM of torque at 6,000 rpm. The price, in standard conditions 17 250 U.S. dollars, or USD 147.9 million per unit.
